My thoughts over here about Italy being grouped as PIIGGS.
Things are perfect in Italy that's for sure, but I think it's a stretch given Italy's (and Great Britain's) industrial and manufacturing advantages over the likes of Greece, Portugal and Spain.

Of Marble
Well, with the Azzurri inexcusably bowing out (I say inexcusably relative to actual talent that was readily available but not utilized for some reason) early at the World Cup, now more than ever E-Talian is needed (no laughing please) and so this was the perfect time to reset this blog. Don't forget to check out all my archives for previous posts.
Let's kick things off with Italian marble technology. Here's a neat PDF file discussing marble manufacturers.
And here.
Closer to home, I've dabbled in construction on and off for 20 years and come across many marble importers here in Quebec and if they're a good measure to judge, then it's safe to say we can chalk marble too as something Italy excels in and has little rivals.
Don't take it from me:
"Italy is known as the world’s stone marketplace. “Italy remains one of the leading stone producers in the world — with 11,000 industrial companies and small businesses, more than 55,000 employees in the sector and an overall value of about $5.64 billion.”
